The ROMBAUT Manifesto

ROMBAUT is not just a brand, it is a movement towards a utopic future.
We are dedicated to creating future-proof products that reflect our values of environmental guardianship, ethical responsibility, and innovation.
We can always make a difference.
Together.

Vision

ROMBAUT envisions a world where design harmonizes with nature, fostering a sustainable future that respects the planet and everyone on it.

Our mission is to lead the fashion industry into a more eco-conscious and ethically responsible direction, ensuring that every step we take contributes to a healthier, more livable world.

Our Pillars

1. Environmental Guardianship

Sustainable Materials: We commit to using innovative, long-lasting, sustainable materials, such as plant-based leathers, recycled fibers, and biodegradable components, reducing our reliance on non-renewable resources.

Eco-Friendly Processes: Our production processes prioritize minimal environmental impact. We continually seek to improve our manufacturing techniques to eliminate harmful chemicals and reduce water usage, energy consumption, and waste.

RECYCLED RUBBER

70% recycled rubber soles. Outsole with devulcanized rubber that transforms rubber waste into qualitative raw material. Outsole supplier receives rubber waste, and recycles it through devulcanization to then integrate it in the production of our recycled rubber outsoles by only adding 30% of virgin rubber.

RISE BY BLOOM FOAM

Rise by Bloom is an algae-blended resin containing a significant amount of algae biomass and bio-based additives. ‘Rise’ has a renewable carbon content of at least 45%, offsetting a significant portion of carbon compared to traditional EVA foams required for footwear outsoles.

2. Veganism

Since our inception in 2013, we have made it clear that Rombaut is a 100% vegan brand. We oppose harmful actions on the Earth and its inhabitants. This means standing against animal exploitation and using them for human greed. This is why we wish to inspire our community to take on vegan diets as they limit the damage done to animals and the environment as a whole.

CORN OIL LEATHER

From corn plan, glucose is extracted, fermented, and polymerized into fine granules; it is then mixed with PES fibers and microfibers, then, it is pressed to result in a sheet of corn leather and finally it gets a protective coat.

BAMBOO-BASED LEATHER

A new development in PU fabric that uses 38% of bamboo fibers.

3. Ethical Responsibility

Fair Labor Practices: We ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers' rights throughout our Portuguese and Chinese factories and all across our supply chain. We partner only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical and sustainable labor practices.

Transparency: We believe in full transparency regarding our supply chain, material sourcing, and production practices. Our customers have the right to know the origins and journey of their products.

APPLE LEATHER

Using the cores and skins discarded by the industrial food industry, apples are puréed, spread on a solid sheet and dehydrated until almost all of the moisture has been removed. This purée turns into a flexible, leathery sheet that is then combined with Polyurethane to create vegan leather. The material contains 60% PU and 40% apple waste.
